That moment Christine saw those two lines on a pregnancy test, it was pure JOY (with a healthy dose of “oh wow, now what”). She was so excited to bring her daughter into the world. Like all parents, keeping her baby safe was her number one priority. It didn’t take long to realize that was going to be harder than expected!
The Birth of Bump Boxes
Despite all the pregnancy pep talks about prenatal vitamins and birth plans, no one warned Christine that tons of the products she was using every day were actually full of dangerous chemicals that could potentially harm her bump & her baby! That instantly sparked a strong determination to seek out the best pregnancy-safe products.
Christine’s enthusiasm to find healthy alternatives quickly turned into obsessively researching pregnancy-safe products. Hours turned into months reviewing ingredients and compiling lists of better options for pregnant moms. The resulting “aha” moment was: why isn’t anyone making this easy for moms? It was that moment, she knew she had to do it herself. That was the birth of Bump Boxes!
Leap from Full Time CPA to Mompreneur
In 2013, with the support & partnership of her husband Leland, she launched Bump Boxes from their dining room. By day, Christine worked as a CPA. By night, she was vetting pregnancy-safe products, packing boxes, making deliveries, and building community, all while caring for her new baby girl. She eventually left her corporate job in 2015 to go full-time on Bump Boxes. Bootstrapped from savings, fueled by grit, and driven by purpose!
Christine and Leland founded Bump Boxes with an overwhelming desire to make Mom’s life easier by providing real pregnancy-safe products to expectant mothers. You know, everyday products like face and body wash, creams, teas, and skincare items? A lot of self-care products that are supposed to pamper Mom while tackling pregnancy symptoms can actually be really dangerous to her bump.
On top of those everyday products being made with ingredients no one can pronounce, big brands try to fool consumers (MOMS!) by marketing “natural” products that have a clean logo but lack clean ingredients. Many Moms also don’t realize when they read “fragrances” on product ingredient lists, it’s actually just a blanket word for more chemicals.
Bump Boxes is a company founded and built by Moms, for Moms. We do all of the research for Mom so that she can remedy her pregnancy symptoms without worrying about if they’re safe for her bump. We fight through the confusing language, complex ingredients, and false marketing so that Moms don’t have to. Because Mom’s shouldn’t have to.
