Especially if the journey involves any long length of time or infertility. The longer a woman goes trying for a little one to call her own, the more worried she may become. For some women, there can be intense heartbreak and loss along the way. For these reasons (and so many more), this is a very sensitive topic of discussion and one where you\u2019d hope people would refrain from saying anything insensitive. But alas, people DO say hurtful things even when they mean well. Here are 10 things you shouldn\u2019t say to women trying to conceive (TTC). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u201cDon\u2019t try so hard\u201d or \u201cRelax, it will happen\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Unless you have access to a crystal ball that reveals everything that could ever happen, you <em>don\u2019t<\/em> know that it \u201cwill happen.\u201d And if a woman has had many failed attempts at conceiving a child, relaxing becomes nearly impossible. <br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u201cYou should just adopt instead.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Do you hear that? It\u2019s a balloon full of a thousand dreams losing air at a heartbreakingly slow speed. Don\u2019t dash a woman\u2019s dream of conceiving her own biological child. And don\u2019t minimize how arduous and expensive the adoption process can be. Some couples don\u2019t have the resources or emotional strength to consider adoption. This can be a complicated journey for many. <br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u201cIf you\u2019re meant to have a baby, it will happen.\u201d <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Annnnnddd, if you\u2019re not meant to have a baby, then what? Geez. Talk about a dream killer. Pretty sure every woman felt it was \u201cmeant to be\u201d when she met her person or prepared for bringing a baby into the dynamic. This sentiment falls under the category of \u201cmeans well but can cause resentment.\u201d<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u201cAre you sure you\u2019re not pregnant?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Facepalm.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u201cI got pregnant by accident. We weren\u2019t even trying.\u201d <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Slow clap for you, sister, followed by internal seething for any woman who hears this. Really happy for your \u201coops\u201d but we don\u2019t need to know that you miraculously get pregnant when your partner just looks at you. <br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u201cIs it him or you that can\u2019t have kids?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Blank stare. Did any part of you filter that one through the appropriate meter before saying it?<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u201cHave you prayed? Everything happens in God\u2019s timing.\u201d <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This advice pertains to people who believe God answers the prayers of the faithful. This does not apply to every person as there are varying degrees of faith and it\u2019s private to each individual. When you aren\u2019t sure what a person believes, it\u2019s best to proceed with caution for this type of comment. <br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u201cYou can always do IVF!\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wow, who knew that fertility treatments were such a treat! And inexpensive. And not a last ditch effort for women who are desperate enough to try anything. If you don&#8217;t know anything about the <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.bumpboxes.com\/ways-to-cope-with-the-challenges-of-ivf\/\">IVF process<\/a> again, it\u2019s just, no. <br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u201cI don\u2019t know how to tell you this, but, I\u2019m pregnant.\u201d <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHmm&#8230;I\u2019m happy for you?\u201d What she really means is \u2018deep down I\u2019m feeling a stab of jealousy and thoughts of why can\u2019t it be me, but I\u2019m going to shove it down and hope you don\u2019t notice because this is your moment and we need to celebrate. But, ouch.\u2019 <br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>And after the moment finally arrives, \u201cI told you it would happen!\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Just puh-leese for the love of all that is good, don\u2019t go there. Be happy for the person whose dream is finally coming true.
